Reviews and feedback for the Red PSP

The red PSP console has seen strong sales results since it was launched. The range of capabilities of the red PSP are impressive as it is essentially a portable multimedia and entertainment system, able to play films and enable the avid gamer to get to grips with the best games with equal ease. The functionality keeps improving, whether that is the screen resolution, contrast, quality, brightness – all of these things help the useability of the PSP. Battery life is sufficient for day to day use.

The red PSP has become progressively smaller, lighter and more powerful with each new model that has reached the market. Where can does it end? It would be niaive to assume that development will stop soon so we watch with bated breath how Sony takes the red PSP onwards and upwards.

Red PSP Console Review #1

On the whole an excellent console. Really great clear pictures. My son really enjoys playing it. Three things not great and was surprised about was that it seems to always need charging up. Secondly, the charge lead is far too short, so best to think of buying an extension lead. Thirdly, it would have been nice if Sony had included earphones with it but my son's old DS Lite headphones fits fine.

Ok, I'll go through some of the Media features of the PSP. The PSP can act as an MP3 player to store your music, You can browse the internet with an included browser, You can take Photos if you purchase the separate camera attachment, Listen to Internet Radio and watch films on the UMD format.

The main reason most buy the PSP is for it's games and there is some good games to be had. I thoroughly enjoyed both Grand theft Auto games, Burnout series and there's some good retro collections to be had namely the Sega Mega drive collection. You can also download games from Sony's Playstation download site. I have however noticed that games being released for the PSP are in decline with fewer and fewer titles. Nintendo are dominating the hand-held market with their DS mainly because it has an innovative touchscreen ,but also Better battery life and a cartridge system that can load games much faster than a Disk format. In my opinion there is a better selection of games offered on the DS than the PSP.

Of course, the only problem with this is that the PSP-3000 is £25 more expensive, and, in all honesty, the two models aren't that different. Before purchasing this, I'd just research the differences between the PSP-2000 and -3000, and see if you might want some of the new stuff on the red PSP 3000 (it's got a better screen and a couple of other minor refinements, but nothing too major).

On a more review-based note, however, I'm stuck with a steam-driven PSP-1000, and I think it's great as a portable media device. Photos, music, videos, internet features (especially the new online Playstation Store) all work brilliantly. As for games, I think people are a little harsh on the red PSP when they say the games are all rubbish - there's clearly many quality titles - racing and sports games work particularly well on the PSP, as well as quirky games such as LocoRoco. But I'd be very careful if choosing action games on the PSP - many simply don't work because the PSP's controls aren't suited to such titles, but if you look for the good ones, there's certainly enough quality action games to satisfy anyone

Red PSP Console Review #4

The red PSP is a lovely device, and the Slim and Light version has made some great improvements, including battery life and screen brightness. I love my old chunky model to bits, so this is more a review of the console in general.

The battery life on this model is better than the old, but still not in the same league as the DS, a machine I hardly notice having to charge. For charge the PSP you will, the huge bright screen is a big drain on power, not to mention the lovely graphics. Really, with battery issues aside, and it's excellent media capabilities (8GB card + Flight of the Conchords DVD + Handbrake software = most fun you can legally have on a train) the PSP should be the true choice for gaming on the move.
